Ashland's
"DualTech" Receives "Most Innovative Window Component"
Award.
Lowell,
IN -- The Crystal Achievement Award is presented by Window
& Door magazine to recognize a unique innovation in product
technology, manufacturing and marketing. This year, Ashland's
DualTech series was recognized as the "Most Innovative
Window Component" by industry peers and executives representing
a broad segment of the window and door industry.
By
combining Sash Locks and Tilt Latches into either a complete
one or two cartridge system (depending upon which system fits
the fabrication process best), the DualTech Series stands out
as the latest innovation in hardware for hung-style windows.
The end result is a host of important benefits, including:
- Improved
window fabrication
- Integrated
hardware operation
- Enhanced
security and performance ratings
- Attractive
streamlined appearance
- Intuitive
consumer operation
Central
to the DualTech design was the desire to eliminate independent
fabrication and operation of the latch and lock, thereby providing
simplicity and greater convenience for consumers. Operating
the entire system requires nothing more than the simple swingof
a lever, which results in a cleaner, smoother lock rail ready
for final window finishing.
Security,
safety and performance...hallmarks of the DualTech design
To
ensure greater security, the forced-entry resistance of the
lock has been enhanced to further prevent tampering by intruders.
DualTech incorporates a secure back-drive mechanism to maintain
the system in the "LOCKED" position and restrict disengagement
from the outside. Additionally, the Series features a robust
tilt latch that extends almost twice as deep into the window
jamb than any other system on the market. In accomplishing this,
Ashland has provided an added edge that has raised the industry
hardware standards from DP 50 (for traditional latches and locks)
to DP 65 in accordance with coastal performance codes.
In
order to increase consumer safety, the DualTech Series also
spotlights an anti-tilt mechanism that requires the user to
push an additional safety button in order to activate the window's
tilt-in feature. This "added movement" emphasizes
the consumer safety issues addressed within this system.
Designed
for both wood and vinyl windows, DualTech simplifies window
fabrication without the exposure of unsightly screw fabrication.
The system comes pre-assembled for out-of-the-box installation,
and slides precisely into a sash pocket for consistent accuracy
in window construction. Screw fastening can be completely concealed
throughout the system resulting in a high-end appearance with
substantially more consumer appeal than conventional surface
mounted sash locks.
Finally,
the cartridge has been intentionally designed to come separate
from the visual hardware (lever and bezel). Consequently, manufacturers
will be able to create custom aesthetics for added market appeal
and brand distinction.
